FoodyDirect General Shipping and Packaging Information

FoodyDirect has partnered with some of the finest creators of gourmet, regional and artisan food from across America to bring you their great food from one convenient online marketplace. When you place an order on FoodyDirect, you will receive food items that have been freshly prepared in the kitchens of America’s top restaurants, bakeries and artisan food producers and shipped directly to you. As these items are shipped directly from each Partner, shipping and delivery times from each may vary. Due to its perishable nature, all food is carefully packaged and, in many cases, frozen or chilled with dry ice or frozen gel packs. All orders are shipped through UPS or FedEx. Perishable items cannot be shipped over a weekend and cannot be delivered on Sunday, Monday or on the following major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Orders cannot be shipped to a PO Box or to a military post office.

To ensure your full enjoyment of this delicious food, it is very important when ordering that you are aware of the shipping schedules, practices and policies of each of our restaurant Partners and of the carriers (UPS and FedEx), so please carefully read the following information.

When a shipping address is reachable via ground service within the max allowable transit time for a specific food item, the customer will presented with $9.95 Flat-Rate Shipping. Click on the "Shipping & Care" tab for each Partner to see their coverage map for $9.95 Flat-Rate Shipping.

Please note that due to the perishable nature of our products, we do not accept order cancellations or returns. All sales are final and we strongly recommend that customers review all the details of their order prior to placing it.

How are products packaged?

Items are prepared fresh and quickly packaged in ship-worthy materials. In some cases items are then shipped fresh and in other cases items are quickly frozen and stored for a short period of time prior to shipment. Individually packaged items are then placed into a shipping container together with cooling agents such as dry ice or frozen gel packs and other packaging materials.

When are orders shipped and delivered?

You can now use the FoodyDirect delivery calendar to schedule your delivery date - up to 30 days in advance! Your food will arrive on the day you want it (barring transit delays caused mainly by weather). Once you place your order, it will be scheduled to ship in time to meet the delivery date specified on your order. Please note that our Partners have different shipping days and order cut-off times - this information is provided on our Partner's Shipping & Care pages as well as on the specific product pages.

Once your order has shipped, you will receive a ship notification email with a tracking number for each package in your order. When your order has been delivered, you will also receive a delivery notification email.

What shipping methods are used?

All of our Partners ship via UPS or FedEx. The shipping services that are available from each partner depend on 3 things - the location of our Partner, the delivery address, and the “max allowable transit time” for that Partner's food. All perishable foods have a max allowable transit time - certain foods must be delivered the next day while others can ship via 2-Day or 3-Day service. Certain products - for example many baked goods - can be in transit for several days and still maintain their freshness. The max allowable transit time for all FoodyDirect items is determined by each of our Partners and can be found on the Partner's pages.

When a shipping address is reachable via ground service within the max allowable transit time for a specific food item, the customer will presented with $9.95 Flat-Rate Shipping. Click on the "Shipping & Care" tab for each Partner to see their coverage map for $9.95 Flat-Rate Shipping.

When placing an order, please make sure to read the specific shipping information for the FoodyDirect partner you are ordering from, and note the info below for UPS and FedEx delivery windows for each specific service level.

For UPS, the estimated delivery schedules for each service level are as follows:

  • Next Day - shipment delivered the following business day, in most cases by noon.
  • 2-Day - shipment delivered on or before the end or the second business day following shipment (excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays). Delivery time can vary based on area, but can be as late as 8:00 PM to residences and 5:00 PM to businesses.
  • 3-Day Select - shipment delivered on or before the end of the third business day following shipment (excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays). Delivery time can vary based on area, but can be as late as 8:00 PM to residences and 5:00 PM to businesses.
  • Ground - Ground service depends on the distance from the shipper to the destination and will only be presented as a shipping option if the customer's delivery address is reachable via UPS Ground Service within the products' max allowable transit time. Deliveries are made Monday through Friday and delivery times can vary based on area, but can be as late as 8:00 PM to residences and 5:00 PM to businesses.
  • Saturday Delivery - Saturday delivery is available for Next Day Air and 2-Day service levels for an additional $15 per package. Deliveries for Next Day Air are made Saturday between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM, depending upon delivery address. Deliveries for 2-Day service are made Saturday by end of day, between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM to residences, and between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to businesses.
  • Please note that weather delays, particularly in winter, may impact these delivery windows and FoodyDirect is not responsible for delays due to weather conditions or other natural causes beyond our control.

For FedEx, the estimated delivery schedules for each service level are as follows:

  • Priority Overnight - shipment delivered the following business day, by 10:30 AM to most U.S. addresses.
  • Standard Overnight - shipment delivered the following business day, by 3 PM to most U.S. addresses and by 4:30 PM top rural areas.
  • 2-Day - shipment delivered on or before the end or the second business day following shipment (excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays). Delivery time can vary based on area, but can be as late as 7:30 PM to residences and 4:30 PM to businesses.
  • FedEx Saver - shipment delivered on or before the end of the third business day following shipment (excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays). Delivery time can vary based on area, but can be as late as 7:30 PM to residences and 4:30 PM to businesses.
  • Ground Home Delivery - Ground service depends on the distance from the shipper to the destination and will only be presented as a shipping option if the customer's delivery address is reachable via FedEx Ground Service within the products' max allowable transit time. Deliveries are made Tuesday through Saturday and delivery times can vary based on area, but can be as late as 8:00 PM to residences and 5:00 PM to businesses.
  • Saturday Delivery - Saturday delivery is available for Priority Overnight and 2-Day service levels for an additional charge of $15 per package. Deliveries are made between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM, depending upon delivery address. If the delivery address is reachable via FedEx Ground Service within the products' max allowable transit time, Saturday is available for no additional charge and deliveries are made between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
  • Please note that weather delays, particularly in winter, may impact these delivery windows and FoodyDirect is not responsible for delays due to weather conditions or other natural causes beyond our control.

Does someone have to be present to accept delivery of a shipment?

No. Because all of our items are perishable, orders are shipped “signature release”. This means UPS and FedEx will leave the package at the doorstep, front desk or gate associated with the shipping address without requiring a signature at the time of delivery. However, if you plan to be away for the day of delivery, it is the customer’s responsibility to arrange for someone to pick up the package and freeze or refrigerate the items as required.

Please be advised that FoodyDirect cannot be responsible for refunds or replacements of orders with incomplete or invalid addresses, or sent to recipients who are not available to accept packages on the delivery date.

Can I buy products from more than one supplier in a single order?

Absolutely. We encourage you to take advantage of the ability to design a customized menu from multiple Partners for any meal, party or occasion and to use our scheduling calendar to coordinate deliveries from each Partner. You may choose to serve Hancock Gourmet Lobster Company’s award winning Lobster Mac & Cheese as an appetizer; Snow’s BBQ’s world-renowned Texas barbecue brisket as your entrée; and, for dessert, Oprah’s Favorite Key Lime Bundt cake from Florida’s famous We Take The Cake Bakery. We recommend planning your shipment to arrive a day early.

How do I ship to multiple addresses?

Presently, each individual order must ship to a single address. If you would like to ship items to multiple addresses, please initiate and confirm separate orders for each unique shipping address.

What should I do if I have a problem with my order?
