The authentic New York Jewish deli experience may be woefully illusive these days, but you’ll find all of its beloved tradition and flavor at this beacon of old-school hospitality run by third generation deli man Jay Parker. The 100% kosher star of “Diners, DriveIns and Dives” and the new documentary, Deli Man, has been serving up impossibly juicy pastrami, corned beef, kosher salami and classic matzo ball soup since 1945.

About The Food

Any craving for the delicious, quickly disappearing flavors of yesteryear’s classic New York Jewish deli will be more than satisfied with an order from Ben’s Best. Starting with the finest kosher meats, they make literally everything from scratch, brining, curing, smoking, and roasting daily to create the finest and best-tasting deli meats and sandwiches. Their delicious, old-fashioned, dark and spicy pastrami is house-cured. Rye bread is custom baked daily. And matzo balls and kreplach bob in soul-satisfying chicken soup made in house.

Meet The Owner

When Benjamin Parker, who learned the deli business from his father and opened Ben’s Best Kosher Delicatessen in 1945, passed away more than 30 years ago, his son Jay took over the business. A successful municipal bond trader on Wall Street before leaving the financial arena to work with his father, Jay knew the key to success was leaving his 100+-year-old family recipes unchanged. His passion for his craft is embodied in this quote from a WSJ article: “When all the stars align, the pastrami becomes so soft that it’s like cotton candy. It just melts in your mouth.” Featured in the documentary Deli Man, this third generation deli man holds an important role in preserving the historic and beloved flavors of New York Jewish deli—and enabling us to send it home to you.
