Petaluma Pie Company is a family-owned bakery cafe located in downtown Petaluma, CA, just an hour north of San Francisco. Since 2010, Petaluma Pie has been making pies from scratch with local and organic ingredients. Surrounded by rolling green hills that turn golden in the summer, Petaluma Pie has direct relationships with farmers and producers and sources ingredients carefully to get the best quality and to support the local economy and the environment. This sensibility combined with the skill to bake some of the best tasting pies in the country makes for one great American bakery.

About The Food

Petaluma is known for its high quality dairy production, and the Petaluma Pie Company uses only local, organic butter, milk, and cream with organic flour and sugar to make their delicious pies. “We take the idea of ‘farm to table’ seriously and purchase many of our ingredients directly from farmers and other producers.” Said co-owner Angelo Sacerdote, an avid gardener who often brings in fresh produce from the Petaluma Pie garden. Angelo makes weekly trips to the San Rafael Civic Center Farmers Market to buy fresh and organic fruits and vegetables for the pies and gets regular deliveries of produce, eggs, dairy and more from local producers and suppliers. Their signature golden pie crusts are made with organic pastry flour, organic butter, organic, non-hydrogenated RSPO certified palm shortening, organic milk, filtered water, vinegar and salt. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for baking yields some of the best pies you’ll ever taste, including classic Apple, Pear Ginger Cardamom, or the unforgettable Dark Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie.

Meet The Owner

When Petaluma couple and pie enthusiasts Angelo Sacerdote and Lina Hoshino decided to open the pie shop, they knew it wasn’t going to be a cake walk, but they did know it was going to be worth it. They originally met through their mutual careers in documentary filmmaking, but the world of baking was soon calling their name. Born and raised in New York City, Angelo loved food as a child and taught himself how to cook by watching Julia Child and other cooking shows. Lina grew up in a family that moved between Tokyo, Paris, Hawaii, California and New Jersey. Her family also owned and operated one of the few Japanese restaurants in New Jersey in the 1980s. Together they turned to baking with the belief that pie has the potential to embrace and celebrate diverse culinary traditions from around the world. As Lina says, “Globally inspired pie: What’s more American than that?”
