This heritage cake is Smith Island Baking Company’s most popular offering as well as Maryland's official State Dessert. Made from scratch and comprised of layers of impossibly moist yellow cake and heavenly fudge icing, it stands 3.5 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter, yielding 14 to 16 slices. Like all SIBC cakes, it it’s shipped frozen with dry ice in a recyclable cake box.

This cake is so good!!! I thought it was not enough chocolate on the cake but it is just right!! Wow I'm impressed with the taste of this cake I ordered it for Thanksgiving and I cut me a slice, I'm glad I did. I tried to order another one right away but they sold out! Please try this Original Chocolate Smith Cake you won't be sorry.

I was apprehensive to order the chocolate cake thinking it would be really sweet....It was absolutely delicious! It was not too sweet nor was there too much icing. It was wonderful & I will be ordering again.

An awesome cake! The cake is moist and delicious, the frosting is rich and decadent, just what a great cake should be! We've been serving this cake (and their coconut cake) for large holiday gatherings for several years - everyone always raves about it, and it feeds a lot of people! We've also sent as a gift to our parents who live in a seniors community and it's been a huge hit there!

Storage & Care:

Chocolate fudge frosted cakes keep best stored at room temperature. Our other cakes should be refrigerated. All cakes should be kept in an air-tight container, such as a cake dome. In these conditions, cakes maintain freshness for 5 - 7 days. All Smith Island cakes freeze wonderfully. If you have left over cake, wrap it well and freeze it.
