For five generations the Taylor family of Taylor Shellfish Farms has been farming shellfish beds in tidelands, which today include the South Puget Sound, Hood Canal, Samish Bay and Willapa Bay. As wines reflect the terroir of the vineyards, each tidal area has it’s own “merroir” which is reflected in the freshly harvested shellfish. The Taylors have been farming shellfish since 1890 and it all began in Totten inlet, with the tiny Olympia oyster. Since then the family has expanded their wholesale operations as well as opening three wildly popular oyster bars in Seattle and a bay-side farm store up north, all the while advocating for sustainability, water quality and innovating farming techniques. Once a purveyor supplying only chefs and restaurants, they now offer their impeccably fresh seafood to shellfish connoisseurs across the U.S., "from Tide to Table."

About The Food

The Taylor family is motivated by generations of experience and passion for the environment, in their quest to supply the best quality Pacific Northwest shellfish. Their Kumamoto oysters are small and grow slowly (it takes them three years to reach maturity) but are worth the wait for their smooth texture and sweet melon-like flavor. The large Shigoku oysters were released by the Taylor family in 2009 and are cultivated in Washington. They are sweet yet briny, with hints of both melon and cucumber. The Pacific oyster is Taylor’s #1 oyster prized for its creamy texture, sweet and salty cucumber flavor and minerality. Their mussels and sweet Manila clams are among the freshest and tastiest you’ll ever eat.

Meet The Owners

A family operation, through and through, five generations of the Taylor family have grown up with a passion for shellfish and for the close-knit communities and rugged landscapes of Western Washington. Bill and Paul Taylor and their brother-in-law Jeff Pearson currently lead the company having grown it past the tidelands, bringing their product from tide to table. They have created a family environment of over 500 dedicated employees, including their children.

$ 9.95 Flat-Rate Shipping - If your shipping address is reachable from Taylor Shellfish Farms via UPS Ground service within one day, you will be presented with the incredibly low shipping rate of $ 9.95 upon checkout.
$ 39.95 Flat-Rate Shipping - If your shipping address is beyond 1-day ground reach, you will be presented with a flat rate of just $ 39.95 for Next Day Air upon checkout.

Service to Alaska is available from Taylor Shellfish. Service to Texas, Hawaii and outside the U.S. is currently not available.

Orders are shipped Monday through Thursday, except holidays. Orders placed by 10AM (ET) can be shipped that day, for delivery the following day. The max allowable transit time for all products is 1 day. Perishable items cannot be shipped over a weekend and cannot be delivered on Sunday or Monday.

Weather and unforeseen circumstances can delay your shipment. We strongly recommend that you schedule your order to arrive at least 1 business day before your desired usage date to allow for any delays.

Shipping Options

The following shipping options are available depending upon the delivery date selected and reflect the max allowable transit time of one day:

Ground Shipping (1 Days) - If a customer’s shipping address is reachable via UPS Ground service within 1 day, they will be presented with $9.95 Flat-Rate Shipping upon checkout. Orders will be delivered via UPS Ground service on or before the selected arrival date, between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM to residences, and between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to businesses.

UPS Next Day Air (1 Day AM Delivery for most addresses) - Your package will be delivered the next morning after it has shipped, by 12 Noon to most addresses. The flat rate for Next Day Air is $39.95.

Packaging & Delivery

All seafood from Taylor Shellfish Farms is shipped in extra thick recyclable foam containers with sufficient coolant to assure it arrives in excellent condition within the max allowable transit time of 1 day.

All orders are shipped signature release. This means UPS will leave the package at the doorstep, front desk or gate associated with the shipping address without requiring a signature upon delivery. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the contents of the package are stored in a freezer or refrigerator promptly after delivery. FoodyDirect cannot be responsible for orders with incomplete or invalid addresses, or that are sent to recipients who are not available to store the contents of the order on the day of arrival. Fedex cannot deliver to a P.O. box.

Handling Fresh Oysters

Consuming: Eat them fresh! It’s recommended to eat oysters 1 - 2 days after purchase. Discard any open oysters.

Note: For added safety, we recommend folding a dish towel or bar towel in your hand that is holding the oyster.

Care: Keep oysters moist with a damp towel. Do not submerge oysters in water.

Store: Keep live oysters on ice or refrigerate (35 - 45°F).
